One of my favourite brands recently has been Farmacy. I love the clean beauty aspect of the brand, and I've been loving all their staple products. I currently use the 50mL mini version of the product which I find is perfect for travel and since I'm a university student, the perfect size for the limited bathroom storage I have.

What is the Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm?

Farmacy's Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm is a makeup remover that comes in a sorbet-like balm that melts to a milky and oily formula that gently removes makeup with zero residue. Some key ingredients of the balm are essential oils, turmeric and mooring extract, and papaya enzymes.

A look at the texture of the balm

Pros

I can easily say that no other makeup removing product has ever been as effective at getting rid of all traces of my makeup as the Green Clean Cleansing Balm. On a daily basis I wear fairly light makeup (some concealer, blush, and mascara), and I only need a pea-size to get everything lathered away, so even the mini can last quite a while depending on your day-to-day makeup use.

I find the formula lends itself to not requiring a lot of rubbing that really damages my skin, since it transforms into such a milky, oil-based cleanser. I love this aspect because I can use it daily and not feel any adverse side effects on my skin. I've used specific eye-makeup removers before and I'd say this cleansing balm clears eye makeup as well as any eye makeup removers out there.

To me, it is also fragrance-free which is a plus for people with sensitivity to fragrances.

Cons

One of the first things I noticed when using Farmacy's cleansing balm was that it caused some eye-fog for me. If you don't know what that is, it is caused by the oil in the cleansing balm creating a thin film of oil in some places in your eye that temporarily causes your vision to be a little blurry. It might sound scary, but it clears within minutes, and is super common when using oil-based products near your eyes. In fact, I haven't found a single cleansing balm that doesn't cause eye fog, so while it is a "con", it's something that all similar products suffer from.

Like mentioned above, I have combination skin and sometimes I find that if I am having a dry skin day, my skin can feel a little stripped after using the balm, though a little extra moisturizer usually fixes that right up. So, I might be a little more wary if you had a dry skin type.

Another thing that hasn't been an issue for me but I could see causing problems is the use of essential oils. Some people with more sensitive skin react poorly to essential oils, so just be cautious and aware that that is an ingredient in the product.

Rating

Quality/Effectiveness: 4.5 / 5

Value: 4.5 / 5

Overall: 4.5 / 5

The product itself is certainly my favourite cleansing balm, but there are definitely more budget-friendly options that do the same job (not always as well). I will say though that this is one of the more affordable Farmacy products, which is awesome since in my opinion, it is one of the best and can't-go-wrongs.

Other Notes

I thought I'd include a little blurb on how I personally use the product. It comes with a little scoop to help get the product out, since it is fairly firm in the container. However, I prefer just using my fingers to scoop out some product just because I think it is more convenient. Also, I always double-cleanse when I use the balm, starting with the Green Clean to remove my makeup, then going in with a gel cleanser to finish the job (to get the residual oil off my skin).

Let me know what you think of the product or if you're thinking of trying it out! Also remember to check out my Instagram for more images of products like this one - @TOblushandbeauty.
