A 2-week update on how I have been treating my Keratosis Pilaris with Cerave's Salicylic Acid Lotion

Cerave SA Lotion
Cerave SA Lotion I am Using

Brief Introduction

For the past two weeks, I have consistently used the Cerave SA lotion on my arms (where my KP is most prevalent).

Photo Updates

So, let's talk results. Throughout the past two weeks, I've noticed that particularly the lower part of my upper arm has seen improvements in terms of texture and smoothness (the lower part of my arm in the progress photos). Overall I see reduced redness though the typical KP-like spots are still visible (but I didn't expect those to disappear within 2 weeks). I think a significant overall change I see is the diminished underlying patchiness that persisted before (mainly in the middle region of my arm in the photos below) - what is left is mostly the KP-like dots that I mentioned. I've also noticed that a lot of the spots and bumps I have left aren't actually "bumps" anymore in that they are a lot flatter. Previously, a lot of the bumps I had were filled with small white things that made them possible to "pop", but the bumps and spots I have now seem to be empty.

So, I'd say I certainly see progress!

Next Steps

As part of my 4-week plan, I will continue using the SA lotion for the next 2 weeks and provide a final update afterwards.

What I am looking forward to seeing is how the lotion continues to reduce the redness and patchiness caused by KP, and see how the smoothness and texture continues to improve. From what I've seen, the SA lotion definitely has done a lot in overall improvement, but it remains to be seen how well it works in completely eliminating the presence of KP.

One thing I will add is that in the beginning of the last two weeks, I was generally more conservative with how much lotion I was applying, and now I've found the amount that I feel works the best for me (about 2-3 pea sizes per arm).

In terms of expectations for the next two weeks, I hope the KP-dots start to fade and that again, the overall redness and patchiness starts to fade as well. I also do have some other products in mind that I will try (especially if the SA lotion doesn't finish the job), so stay tuned!

As always, make sure to follow my journey on Instagram (@TOblushandbeauty). Let me know through commenting, emailing, or DM on instagram if you have any experiences with KP and if you have any product suggestions for me to try out!
