Introducing the start of my 4-week experience tackling KP with CeraVe's Salicylic Acid Lotion
What IS Keratosis Pilaris?
In short, Keratosis Pilaris, also known as strawberry or chicken skin, is a skin condition best described as small bumps and texture on the skin. It can sometimes look like goosebumps, but it is generally a little rougher and a little drier (see below). It is caused by a buildup of keratin, a protein that protects skin, in hair follicles. It is a complete harmless and fairly common skin condition.
Some Background on Me
I've had Keratosis Pilaris on my arms for as long as I can remember. I've never really minded it, even though I don't know many people at all (even within my family) with the same thing. When I was younger my KP was a lot worse because I'd constantly pick and itch at my arms, and now I'm sort of just used to it. Also a reminder that I am no skincare professional, just curious on how different products can affect my KP.

Motivation and Inspiration
What sparked this idea for me was seeing a lot of people talk about how salicylic acid (and specifically CeraVe's lotion) did wonders for clearing it up. Again, I've never had an issue with the little bumps on my arms, and don't think there should be any negativity about not having skin as soft and smooth as a baby's bottom, but if something as simple as a drugstore lotion can rid me of KP, why not, right?

My Plan and Timeline
Again, the product I've seen used the most is the CeraVe Renewing SA Lotion (can be found at your local drugstore), and since I am also a huge fan of CeraVe skin products anyways, I will be using that CeraVe lotion for the next 4 weeks on a near-daily basis. I may do a two-week update to see if there are any changes (if nothing noticeable, I may just skip), and at the end of the 4 weeks, I will do a comparison from the before and after. I'll be posting updates on my Instagram (@TOblushandbeauty), as well as this site.
In terms of next steps, I may decide to keep going and keep documenting any changes past 4 weeks, and I'm totally open to any new product suggestions or review requests (within reason in terms of $$$).
Again, make sure to follow my journey on Instagram (@TOblushandbeauty)! Do you have or know somebody who has KP? Let me know any of your experiences or suggestions!
